Bentley S3 Continental drophead coupé originally owned by brewing baron Sir Keith Showering to be sold at auction; his family created the ‘cult drink’ Babycham
A 1964 Bentley S3 Continental drophead coupé by Mulliner Park Ward originally owned by Sir Keith Showering (1930 – 1982) – a member of the family that created the popular drink of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, Babycham – is to be sold at auction in London in September.
One of just 75 drophead coupés produced and featuring the ‘Chinese Eye’ lights that proved popular with the likes of the broadcaster Alan Whicker CBE (1921 – 2013) also, the car offered was originally finished in Cadillac Green with a green interior and top. It now sports white paintwork, a grey/black and blue interior and a blue hood but does retain its numbers matching engine and was subsequently owned by the businessman, car collector and one-time Japanese Honorary Consul of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden Dr Soichiro Yoshida.
RM Sotheby’s will sell the Bentley with an estimate of £110,000 to £140,000 ($142,000 to $180,000, €121,000 to €153,000 or درهم520,000 to درهم662,000) at their sale in Battersea Park on 6th September.
I like this very much but the interior looks like it still needs fixing up. I can see cracks on the front seats, for example, or is that simply bad photography?
Yolanda, when you talk of the ‘interior look’ you do realise that this is a motor car?
Or, are you wearing your ‘property professional’ hat?
The engine appears to need some attention too. I suspect this might be a bit more of a project than it is being made out to be.
It has true charm and class. Love it and will definitely go and have a look at the auction next month.
Looks like an enlarged skip!
And a skip with slitty eyes!
