The only candidate ‘The Steeple Times’ can enthusiastically endorse in the European elections is Lord Buckethead
Whilst we wish ChangeUK – The Independent Group all the best, the only candidate The Steeple Times will be endorsing wholeheartedly in the forthcoming European elections is Lord Buckethead – if, indeed, this all-round genius actually decides to run.
Buckethead, who raised over £16,500 of his £5,000 goal in just four days, when he announced he needed such a sum to cover his deposit, is unlike many other candidates. He is someone who will provide not only mirth at this ridiculous time but also someone who actually speaks the genuine truth about Brexit.
With Brexiteers likely to divide between ‘Nasty Nige’s’ Brexit Party and ‘Boring Batten’s’ UKIP, remainers could have seized the day and united. They did not and thus they fail all of us who want to stay in the EU. ‘Remain parties’ will include not only ChangeUK, the Greens, the Lib Dems and the SNP amongst others and this, as with the Brexit mob, will just serve to split the vote on the remain side.
Whilst likely both the Conservatives and Labour will also be punished and decimated on the basis of the failings of both their utterly incompetent so-called leaders, the remain side will sadly likely be punished too. The various groupings should have – as Vince Cable most sensibly pointed out – united and, equally, ChangeUK should not have produced a slate dominated by people whose CVs were that of “formers” (“former MP,” “former candidate,” etc.).
Instead, ChangeUK should have ensured those standing for them reflected the views of the young – the under 30s, in particular – the very people who did not want Brexit. Instead, in mostly opting for older folk – and, of course, there is a place for them – they’ve likely let us all down and thus paved the way for this once great nation to sink deeper into remaining ‘Broken Britain.’
