The former wife of disgraced politician Chris Huhne is herself an embarrassment to womankind. In February 2013, she used her time in a courtroom to rake up unnecessary information about their relationship in an attempt to save herself from jail. Her bitter attempts to blame her ex as a bully and her statement: “If I really wanted to inflict fatal damage on him I could have done something very, very different” show her true character. It’s also ironic that this harpy set up a company aiming to encourage ethical behaviour. The Good Corporation plainly didn’t guide her own morals when it came to speeding offences and for that reason she deserves her sentence.

Matthew, I don’t agree with you. From what we know from the media, she was a devoted wife for 26 years to an apparently universally disliked man – and bore him children whilst juggling a very successful career in a highly competitive City field. No mean feat – good mother and top City Economist. She has the support of their children through this appalling story – that speaks volumes in itself. Two years ago when this story broke, I remember thinking ” Hell hath no fury…” but as it now transpires , she must have been bullied into taking his penalty points and then Huhne leaves her in the full glare of the media for a bisexual PA, I would imagine it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I read on a Twitter feed that she strongly disagreed with Huhne about the euro ( he is a committed Federalist) all the time. Highly respected civil servants have come out in support for her, so I think she deserves a fairer hearing than the Steeples Times is giving her. Apart from saying he is very intelligent, I’ve not read a good word about Huhne…not even forthcoming from his own children.
Monima, you are over-generous. Consider the following: 1) how many of the 5 kids (2 are in their late 30s) have you seen accompanying her to court? 2) who brought the son into this mess, by telling the police about the existence of text messages that appeared adverse to Huhne? 3) who brought up the abortion stories to save her own ass, at the price of extreme distress to her family? 4) who appeared to ignore the alleged transfer of speeding points for 7 years while the champagne was flowing, but got all vicious and moralistic when she was abandoned? 5) who returned to work 3 days after the birth of her last child and bragged about this in the press, while nurturing a superwoman image and deriding women who stayed at home with their family? 6) who fed the press this story about the euro and some many other stories? 7) who has heard Huhne’s side of the story on any of these topics? Why would he care about the birth of the 5th child, since the previous 4 had been reared by nannies while both of their parents devoted themseleves 100% to their carreers and hobnobbing in the evening?
Maybe. This is my personal view. Who are you and what’s your full name Arnie ? Don’t hide behind a pseudonym. That’s what cowards do !
I heard that Blackburn Rovers would gladly accept the points!
On a serious note, she broke the law and must be punished in some way.
Sadly, divorce brings out the worst in people.
This is sad. I hate divorce.
Ain’t that the truth, Phil ! Unfortunately I don’t know enough about this story to make any comment that’s any more meaningful than has already been expressed by others above.
they both deserve each other, no reason for me to take sides. Both showed “unethical behavior”. Why not lock them up together and let them fight it out
I don’t know her well enough and I don’t wish jail on anybody. She looks like the classic feminist man-hater. Him having to endure her as his wife was quite a punishment.
Seems like a sad set of affairs that I wished folks were smart enough to leave private. I think the publicity in situations like this coarsens us all.
It’s not just about the points – there is the ‘little matter’ of the cost of the case (several £millions of taxpayers money) – which she is partly responsible for!
It looks to me like she milked the system…………. twice!
And just for the record – I have no sympathy for her ‘ex’.
