Deborah Walker: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times asks matchmaker Deborah Walker: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

The Steeple Times shares “wit and wisdom”. What’s your guiding force?

‘The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible”.

“Don’t get even, get medieval” is, in our humble opinion, a great motto. What’s yours?

“Live life spherically in many different directions”.

Kerry Katona was considered unacceptable in 2007. Who or what is unacceptable in 2013?

Jordan (AKA Katie Price).

Tony Blair misses being Prime Minister. What do you miss most in your life?

My grandmother.

What might you swap all your wealth for?

Love.

Donald Trump was once a case of: “If you owe the bank a thousand, they close you down; but if you owe the bank a billion, you own the bank”. What’s your view on the banking crisis?

Everyone lies!

What phrase or word do you most loathe?

C**t.

In the UK, some people consider charity to “begin at home”. What’s your view and what causes do you personally support?

Everyone, no matter their financial status should give something to a cause close to their heart. I give to £3 a month equally to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and The Woodland Trust. £6 a month is do-able for everyone – it’s less than a glass of wine.

The judge in Law Abiding Citizen states: “I can pretty much do whatever I want” before being blown up whilst answering her mobile phone. What’s your view on the appropriate use of such devices?

Get your assistant to answer your mobile for you.

If you could fill a carriage on The Orient Express, who would be your fellow passengers?

Mozart, Margaret Thatcher, Freud, Andy Warhol and Jane Austen.

If you were unfortunate enough to end up on death row, what would be your last meal and where would you eat it?

I would have fish and chips with a bottle of Laurent Perrier rosé champagne on a cliff-top in Cornwall on a summer’s day.

What time is it acceptable to consume the first drink of the day?

12 noon. Any time before then would suggest you’re an alcoholic.

A Negroni, a martini or a cup of tea?

A passion fruit martini. The Blue Bar at The Berkeley does the best.

Whose parties do you enjoy the most and why?

My own – I can stay at home and still be sociable.

Who is the most positive person you know?

Me.

What’s your most guilty pleasure?

Taramosalata with slightly burnt pitta bread.

If a tattoo were to sum you up, what would it be of?

The sun.

If you were a car, what marque would you be?

Non comprende.

Cilla Black presented Surprise, Surprise. Tell us the most surprising thing about you.

I am naturally very shy.

What’s currently sitting on your mantelpiece?

I don’t have a mantelpiece sadly – but one day I hope I will.

  1. Deborah looks like a lovely girl but I must say that this is actually a very snobbish idea. What is wrong with those who went to grammar schools, for example? After all, even Pippa Middleton is dating a boy from such a background. I have friends who went to Eton and friends who went to the local comp. A school is all very well but a person from a public school is just as likely to do bad things as someone who went to the comp. Examples: Sir Mark Thatcher (coup in Africa), Darius Guppy (jailed), Lord Brockett (jailed), Jonathan Aikten (jailed), etc.

  2. In reply, we all also have friends from all walks of life also – and hence, following such a ‘strong’ comment, it has been decided to open up the Network to incorporate a much broader target market… so thank you for your comments. The Team at TCN.
