The revival of Mayfair as the best residential village of what is now called “Prime Central London” (PCL).

 

“Don’t get even, get medieval” is, in our humble opinion, a great motto. What’s yours?

“Better as a friend than an enemy”.

 

Kerry Katona was considered unacceptable in 2007. Who or what is unacceptable in 2013?

Tony Blair misses being Prime Minister. What do you miss most in your life?

Tony Blair. He was the best conservative that Labour ever had.

 

What might you swap all your wealth for?

Health and longevity.

 

Donald Trump was once a case of: “If you owe the bank a thousand, they close you down; but if you owe the bank a billion, you own the bank”. What’s your view on the banking crisis?

What banking crisis? For Mayfair, 2009 was a minor illness followed by renewed strength.

 

What phrase or word do you most loathe?

“Passionate”, “ticks all the boxes” and “will you do a deal on your fees?”

 

In the UK, some people consider charity to “begin at home”. What’s your view and what causes do you personally support?

Children, cancer and close to home.

 

The judge in Law Abiding Citizen states: “I can pretty much do whatever I want” before being blown up whilst answering her mobile phone. What’s your view on the appropriate use of such devices?

As an early adopter from 1983, I have always loved the freedom that they provide and now they actually fit in your pocket (unlike the “bricks” of 30 years ago).

If you could fill a carriage on The Orient Express, who would be your fellow passengers?

Churchill, John Lennon, Castro, Thatcher, “Red” Adair, my parents and my wife (because she never met them).

 

If you were unfortunate enough to end up on death row, what would be your last meal and where would you eat it?

English breakfast. I’d probably not eat it.

 

What time is it acceptable to consume the first drink of the day?

If champagne, at breakfast; if a G&T, after midday and if cocktails, when the bar opens at The Connaught at 4pm.

 

A Negroni, a martini or a cup of tea?

A Mayfair Martini made with Berkeley Square London Gin made by G&J Greenall.

 

Whose parties do you enjoy the most and why?

My own. At least I know what I am drinking and who I am going to be speaking to.

 

Who is the most positive person you know?

My wife followed by my personal trainer.

 

What’s your most guilty pleasure?

I find I enjoy cigars even more since my wife gave up smoking cigarettes.

 

If a tattoo were to sum you up, what would it be of?

The Invisble Man.

 

If you were a car, what marque would you be?

A Bentley. Dark on the outside with a light interior.

 

Cilla Black presented Surprise, Surprise. Tell us the most surprising thing about you.

I used to wear a curly moustache combined with a blue suit and a fawn waistcoat.

 

What’s currently sitting on your mantelpiece?

An invitation to the Royal Academy from UBS.

  3. I remember Peter as a teen his parents ran the Cross Keys pub in Chelsea his Mum June the landlady was a real character much loved by the regulars who she ruled with a rod of iron
