Daimler previously owned and driven by The Queen goes to auction
The phrase “one careful lady owner” is indeed often very liberally used. A favourite of the Arthur Daley school of car dealer, it generally actually means that the vehicle concerned is a bit of a dog. With the forthcoming auction of a Daimler owned and driven by Her Majesty The Queen, we’ve most definitely found an exception.
The car, a 2001 long wheelbase Daimler Super V8, registration Y694 CDU, was specially modified and includes a special holder for handbags, a now disconnected direct dial telephone to 10 Downing Street and the Home Office and a security lighting system.
Road tested by Jaguar Daimler for 2,500 miles prior to delivery, the British Racing Green coloured car covered a further 11,000 miles during the time it was owned by The Queen and was used both at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace. Photographs of the Queen driving the car are included in the auction lot.
The Daimler was returned to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust in 2004 and has barely been used since. Exhibited last at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed at the Cartier Royal display and marketed at a price of £65,000 in 2010, it even retains its original set of tyres and comes with just what Arthur Daley would take great pleasure in annonucing: a “full service history”.
The car will be auctioned on the 31st August and a guide price of £25,000 to £30,000 has been set by Historics at Brooklands.

I have 3 Daimlers including one from the x300 family, it’s a 1996 Double Six and never gave me no problem apart from a sagging roof!
