This week whilst promoting his latest film, Transcendence, the actor Johnny Depp stated: “People get famous now for I-don’t-know-what”.

Depp is right. The cult of ‘celebrity’ has become something beyond tedious. It is time to turn off reality television and focus on something other than the pointless people whom we’ve spawned.
