Sun, sand and salt

A £1.375 million house in a Norfolk village with connections to James Blunt

The summer is nearly over but many of you no doubt will find yourselves continuing to hanker after the sun and sand. A new house named Marshlands in the village of Cley next the Sea in North Norfolk could offer you just that.

“Built to optomise the spectacular views over the saltmarshes” from Wells-next-the-Sea through Blakeney Point to Salthouse, this environmentally sustainable 2,290 square foot contemporary house includes 2 large reception rooms, 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The best feature of the building, however, is a sky bridge that leads to a vast roof terrace and covered balcony.

The 16th century village of Cley was once one of the busiest ports in England and is now considered an internationally important location for rare breeding and visiting birds. In addition, the village is known for its connections with the singer James Blunt. His family owned Cley Windmill between 1934 and 2006 with his father operating it as a guesthouse between 1983 and 2005. It is now in new ownership but still in use as holiday accommodation.

A perfect holiday pad in its own right, Marshlands is for sale through Jackson-Stops & Staff with a guide price of £1,375,000.
