Roland Rudd’s departure from the People’s Vote campaign is to be celebrated; now it is time all remain supporters came together
Roland Rudd proved himself to be nothing but self-serving and divisive as chairman of the People’s Vote campaign.
News that he’s resigned is to be celebrated, but what now needs to happen is clear: It is time that the forces for remain finally got together as one unit. What we true remainers need is not a cobbled together pseudo attempt at a pact here and there, but instead we require a real alliance. We must unite with one vision and that one vision should be to stop the vision of hell that is a land of chlorinated chicken that will be the monster that is Brexit.
The likes of the utterly pointless vote splitting Renew UK party should stand aside altogether, for example. They’ll cost votes for whomever they stand against and will win nowhere and, equally, the Liberal Democrats’ Sally Symington should do the decent thing and clear off to give a free run to the independent ex-Conservative David Gauke in South West Hertfordshire.
This is not a time for squabbling. This, instead, is a time that remainers came together and did the right thing. We must join together and say no to Boris and yes to Europe.
