Showjumper, show rider and jockey Alfie Diaper was described as an “all-round horseman” by Horse & Hound in April 2019 aged just nine. Dorset born and home-schooled, this “little star” has had success at the Olympia Horse Show, the Liverpool International Horse Show and won the Shetland Pony Grand National at Plumpton. He survived a near-death experience on his bicycle in 2019 also, but immediately “came back fighting… [and] adamant he wanted to make the Royal Windsor.” Diaper raises funds for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust on his JustGiving page and of winning the Jones Brothers Shetland Pony Grand National in December 2019, amusingly quipped: “My dream was to win a rug… And now I have.”
Alfie comes across as a wonderful child. Lovely to a youngster outside and doing something that doesn’t involve a computer. Well done to him.

What a refreshing story for these strange times. I hope when normal life resumes his success continues.
Brilliant little guy. Plainly very talented and dedicated.
Good luck to him in the future, a hardworking, talented, spirited wee soul.. He HAS to change his last name. He just cannot go through life called Diaper.
A great kid
