Constance Briscoe charged with third count of intending to pervert the course of justice
Constance Briscoe had it all: a successful career as a barrister and part-time judge, a large house in Clapham and friends in high places. Today, as she is charged with a third count of intending to pervert the course of justice, her world looks far less rosy.
Briscoe, who has written two books, Ugly and Beyond Ugly, that detail her having been abused as a child and whom was sued unsuccessfully by her own mother as a result of their publication, now faces a trial at Southwark Crown Court beginning on 14th January 2014.
Whether found innocent or guilty, Briscoe surely ought to have acted more cautiously. This is very much a case of: “If you lie down with dogs, you’ll wake up with fleas”. Constance Briscoe would have done well to have kept well away from Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce.
