Martine Vik Magnussen must not be forgotten and her alleged killer Farouk Abdulhak should finally be brought to justice suggests Matthew Steeples
Norwegian student Martine Vik Magnussen, 23, was killed in the early hours of 14th March 2008 in Great Portland Street, Marylebone. The only suspect in her murder, Farouk Abdulhak, left London on his billionaire father’s private jet later that day and returned to his native Yemen – a country that has no extradition agreement with Britain.
In a new twist to this somewhat forgotten case, Monday’s Evening Standard reported that Miss Magnussen’s father, Odd Petter, received an offer of the arrangement of Abdulhak being handed over to Interpol on the eighth anniversary of her death in exchange for Norway hosting peace talks when the Yemeni civil war was at its height. Though this was unsuccessful, Mr Magnussen told the paper:
“I found this encouraging. This was a strong message to the suspect that he can no longer rely on the total support of his own people. I hope he is not sleeping so well these days”.
Justice for Martine Vik Magnussen must be served – however long it takes. Britain should once again pursue the extradition of Farouk Abdulhak and Yemen should jolly well offer to surrender him.
Those with information that could ensure justice for Martine Vik Magnussen should contact Scotland Yard’s Most Wanted Hotline at +44 (0) 207 233 4128 or Crimestoppers on +44 (0) 800 555 111.

Farouk Abdulhak’s father’s businesses should be boycotted worldwide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s the only way justice will ever be served on this playboy killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are you campaigning on this issue? It will never be resolved. Meanwhile Rolf HARRIS an innocent man is rotting in jail for crimes he did not commit since he could never have been where he was suggested to be. Rolf HARRIS is innocent and you should realise this and support the campaign to free him
Rolf Harris is innocent is probably not a nutter but perceive rape and Paedophilia as normal behavior and honestly believes Rolf has done nothing wrong. Bernie Sanders wrote an essay suggesting women’s fantasy is being gang raped. It is the Liberal new age.
Why does STEEPLE TIMES seem to attract nutters like these two? All it needs is a post from La Trott to start filling the ST Bedlam.
I would like to help you out Rolf Harris is Innocent but my time is entirely consumed by the FIND MADELEINE campaign. NOT.
Steeple Times are very right and commendable to bring attention to this tragedy where no justice was done . This kind of impunity due to legalistic impediment is criminal in itself.
The lesson is very simple for young European women – do not associate with Arabs and Muslims. They are very dangerous and have no respect for women.
Dangerous people are in all cultures ,what you have just said is simply racist .
I suppose PeterJames Hall was getting his information from the global media. It does certainly seem, on balance, that Arabs and Muslims have a remarkable capacity for fighting non Muslims and fighting between their different sects.
Funnily enough, my Persian friends( and one is also a Hashemi) despise Arabs.
And, please stop bringing this racist nonsense in. We English are continually subjected to unpleasant mass prejudice, but we never whine about being the subject of racist abuse.
Maybe we have too high an opinion of ourselves to worry.
I live in Bahrain and I have not in three years encountered anything other than true respect from the male population here. I worry for my safety and my sanity when my aeroplane lands back at LHR, This is a ridiculous comment.Mr Wayde…..
Yes, but you are not Arab. It’s a tiny place and, being a police state, the local peasants probably think you know one of the ‘Royal Family”(what a joke) and would get a thrashing if reported for touching you up. Bahrain only survives because of the support it receives from Saudi Arabia….and we know males there place women on a pedestal!
oh wise up Mr Wayde! You can tell by your ignorant comments that the only experience you have of Bahrain is through mainstream media. For one thing it is most definitely not a police state, the locals here are wonderful, caring and intelligent individuals, not “the peasants” you rudely speak of. As for your comment about the Royal Family, where is the joke? I suggest you restrict your comments to the filthy Old Smoke where you reside and stop embarrassing yourself.
Oh, don’t take on so! Amusingly, I was once invited by one of those frightful middle aged women, with a hyphenated name ending Smith, to some dreadful thing at the Grosvenor House, in honour of ” His Royal Highness”. Funny that a poxy little island even has a “Royal Family”.
Anyway, it was frightful. The other guests were all little men from Bahrain wearing cheap, shiny suits and big shoes. After ten minutes I decided to leave. This horrible PR dragon said, ” you cannot leave until the ‘Princely One’ arrives.” Obviously, I told her to take four steps back and then take a running jump at herself.
I think we should close the “Mainstream Media” down. Obviously, they are lying about this little dictatorship supported by the hideous Saudi’s. Just as they lie about that paragon of human rights, KSA.
Mr Wayde,I really cannot understand your hatred of a place you have never been to,let alone resided in. I think you are an unadulterated twit of the first order, yet I find your naivity highly amusing. Thank you so much for the above polemic,I needed a good laugh and you most definitely provided it!
I suspect that all that desert heat has cooked your brain. I will have to ask Jean de T to recommend you a good quack….
Do you not understand that Bahrain and it leadership is a client state of a dictatorship which oppresses other religions, women, gays et al?
I really give up with you Mrs M….but am delighted my naivety amuses you.
I was going to write a long reply but to be honest,I can’t justify the time it would take to address your ignorance. Suffice to say your claim that other religions are oppressed here would certainly come as news to the many Sikhs,Jews,Hindu’s,Christians who all have places of worship here. As for Bahraini women they are smart, savvy and more than capable of making their own way in the world. They even drive and have a career if they so choose, fancy that! And if their husband turns out to be a complete idiot they can divorce him AND take custody of any children. Repressed I think not. Oh and just to finish, there’s quite a few ‘alternative’ evening establishments if you get my drift. Sorry to burst your bubble.
It’s a nasty little dictatorship supported by an even nastier, much larger dictatorship, which has done much to fuel international terrorism.
Now argue against that, you silly, irritating woman.
How has Peter Wade dominated this string? The fact is that a young girl was killed and her killer not yet faced justice. That’s it. Full stop.
I am with you on justice for Martine, Julia. That’s why I published this article: The public need to be reminded that the alleged killer’s billionaire father is harbouring his fugitive from justice son and that Yemen as a country are yet to do the decent thing also.
