Matthew Steeples shares his views on the ‘outrage’ against Friday’s royal wedding and ‘death by Pret’
People are very angry at the moment: They’re angry about Brexit and they’re angry about their sex lives, they’re angry about the cost of living in London and the price of milk. People are also very angry about the death of two people at Pret and Friday’s wedding of Princess ‘WhoGenie?’ (as they’re rather nastily now calling her) and Jack Brooksbank.
Outrage, it seems, is everywhere and whilst the cost of security at the Windsor wedding should frankly be footed by the Duchess of York and her erstwhile husband, ‘Air Miles Andy,’ the nation should jolly well embrace the occasion and celebrate. Aside from ITV being the only channel willing to screen the joyous nuptials, it isn’t too late for Theresa May to do the decent thing: Why doesn’t she offer the moaners a public holiday and let them get thoroughly sloshed?
Elsewhere, people continue to complain about Pret. Everyday article after article and newscaster after newscaster berates the chain over the most unfortunate death of two customers. Yes, it’s sad and yes it’s horrible but the truth of the matter is this: Pret has provided fine food to its customers for many a year and they also do something spectacular – they look after the most unfortunate people in our society, the homeless.

I disagree about Pret. Did you hear they keep the bread frozen in France for upto two years? Hardly “natural food” is it?
We are living in strange times for sure, I sort of get the feeling,, “ fiddling as Rome burns” ? Personally, I’m not interested in the wedding, and I’ll still pop into Pret, but this story is going to run a bit more.

Talking only of Pret, trial-by-media seems to be the times by which we now live. They have been berated at every opportunity by every media in every medium beit visual or print. It’s truly sad that we, the listener and the viewer are brainwashed into believing Pret are the devil of the high street food sector yet rarely, as you rightly mention, has it been mentioned of the good they provide beyond their fading shop window. There’s no doubt they’ll make changes for the better, so will every other food provider, all sadly at Prets expense both financially and seeming winners of the ‘trials-by-media’. An excellent piece Matthew highlighting some excellent points. And I for one hope Pret come through these trials as the eventual victor by winning back the trust of their trusting customers.
This wedding is an outrage. Stupid Steeple gets it wrong again. The money should be spent helping Gerry and Kate McCann find their dearly beloved daughter Madeleine. It is time to FIND MADELEINE and FIND HER NOW.

What a great article! Funny and hits all the right areas. Princess Eugenie is NOT ugly and she looked sensenational in her hollywood inspired wedding dress. Who doesnt love a big Royal wedding? As for Pret. Used them for years. Love their soups and fresh baguettes.
