Photo montage showing when Members of Parliament bother to turn up is telling (even if it is fake)
Spotted by photographer John Stoddart on Facebook, our Picture of the Week illustrates the reason why few in Britain have respect for our Members of Parliament.
In the image montage, there are eleven images of the House of Commons. In nine of them, supposedly taken during important debates on such things as war in Afghanistan, child sex abuse and schooling for Syrian refugees, there are barely a handful of representatives in the chamber.
In the last two images, however, when Parliament was allegedly discussing the pay and expenses of Members, there is standing room only. This montage provides a stark example of what is wrong with the British system of governance. It is time for change.
Update: 1st December, 4.30pm: One of our readers, Thomas Foulser, shared an article from The Spectator with us that suggests that the photo montage we shared is a fake. Despite this, there is a reason this picture has gone viral: The public are tired of their representatives and such people as Geoffrey Cox MP and George Galloway MP – who respectively earned £452,545 and £265,350 from their “second jobs” according to the latest published figures – are examples of those who put their personal earnings above the roles they were elected to. Too many MPs spend too much time topping up their Parliamentary salaries and I will thus reiterate the point: It is time for change.

Thank you for sharing this Tom. I will update our feature later and though this may be another example of someone hoodwinking us all, there is a point to be made about the attendance of MPs and that was what I suppose this was pointing out.
They are dirty scoundrels playing Foxy Bingo and Pinball on their laptops and thinking of ways to supplement their incomes and dodge income tax . A merry Xmas to them.
