Tamara Ecclestone and her husband Jay Rutland spend a supposed £70,000 on a birthday party for her one year old daughter
People starve in Africa and the level of homelessness in London continues to rise but meanwhile all’s well in the world of 30-year old Tamara Rutland (née and still professionally known as Tamara Ecclestone). Yesterday, the Mail Online reported that this billionaire’s daughter spent the supposed sum of about £70,000 on a birthday party for her one year old child, Sophia Ecclestone-Rutland.
Prior to the event, amongst the arrivals at the Palace Green, Kensington Palace Gardens home Tamara Ecclestone and her husband Jay Rutland share with their child came zebras and dogs in cages. Ponies were accompanied by women dressed as princesses and balloon artists and sheep put in appearances too. Here, indeed, was a menagerie of epic proportions.
Mrs Rutland – who also shared images of the birthday girl on Instagram – is entitled to spend her money as she wishes but that she splurges such an extravagant amount on a party for a child that will have no recollection of it simply is illustration of her own vanity. We will not be surprised if imagery of the event appears in Hello! magazine in the coming days but we’d also suggest that Tamara Ecclestone might do well to treasure her child a little more privately.

So what! As you say , entirely her choice ! Who are we to judge!!! If you had her wealth you might buy a remote Scottish Island or a football team … I definitely wouldn’t ! Horses for courses !!!
She didn’t even pay for it: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3006948/Tamara-Ecclestone-explains-one-year-old-daughter-Sophia-s-incredibly-lavish-birthday-bash.html Hello Magazine bought the pictures. Probably covered the cost. Do you think it right to sell pictures of a child? How common.
Shows her lack of empathy with the poor clearly. Why didn’t she donate the five figure sum to charity in her daughter’s honour? What a waste.
As Claudia says, its her choice.
Take £70k as a percentage of her net worth and calculate that to yours Ethel, I don’t pretend to know what that would be, but its unrealistic to expect her not to have the function and give it to Charity.
The Press got hold of it and reported it, to sell Magazines and make a profit…. where’s the problem…….
If you had sufficient resources to buy a £45m home, would you take your child to Disney World for her 1st Birthday.
Thomas….I don’t think you ‘get’ the point Matthew is making.
This type of spending sends out a message that the rich and vulgar don’t car about others.
But, you clearly have a very different moral compass to me so I won’t waste my time further.
The last thing I do when I spend money is consider strangers. Why should I? Why should anyone? Do you? You can talk about moral compasses all you like but I very much doubt your every waking thought and action is preceded by handwringing either. I’m hoping your moral compass will allow everyone to live and let live, not just those who you deem to be poor or disadvantaged.
Just in case Ethel Jones/Pamela Gurney still thinks Tamara Ecclestone is a ‘disgusting’ privileged rich bitch, have a look at this, http://www.tamaraecclestone.com/?page_id=637 Tamara uses her privilege to ‘give back’ to the Great Ormond Street Hospital. I hope that meets with your judgmental approval. I’m sure that nothing will make you approve of anyone with a bit of cash unless they give it all away and are left with less than you. I suspect you give far more than she does to GOSH so I will commend you on having your morals on the right way round.

In my jaundiced view, elaborate birthday parties for very little children are rarely for the children.
God bless stupid rich people who plough their thousands back into our economy.
Ethel, every penny that finds its way back into society does help the poor in a roundabout way. I don’t begrudge a penny anyone spends so long as it’s theirs. I wouldn’t tell you how to spend your money, even if I thought you were spending it stupidly. None of us has the right to be judge and jury over other people’s lives and their belongings.

Why can’t we all focus on our selfs instead and let the lady do what ever she like with her baby daughter.
What a sad comment. Plainly you have no empathy with people in need. She is a disgrace.
Either English isn’t your first language or you are a bit thick …..or maybe a blend of the two.
The baby is a year old. At that age they wouldn’t know what the hell was going on.

What about the Mac Canns?
“Professionally known as” – You’ve hit the nail on the head. What is this woman’s profession?
And why aren’t there images of that lovely sister of hers and her chubby chubbster husband?
