‘The Steeple Times’ requests submissions of the best and worst people of 2022 along with suggestions of those who’ll be missed and who won’t
It’s nearly that time of year when The Steeple Times shares its annual lists of the best and worst people of the year past and its lists of those who’ve passed who’ll be missed and those that won’t.
Our categories, as ever, are as follow:
- The Best of 2022 – Heroes of The Year (25 names max).
- The Worst People of 2022 – Vilains of The Year (25 names max).
- The Ones Who’ll Be Missed 2022 (25 names max).
- The Ones Who Won’t Be Missed 2022 (25 names max).
- Amazing Animals Who’ve Sadly Left Us in 2022 (10 names max).
Whilst we’ll naturally be highlighting the obvious such as eternally wonderful “more is more and less is a bore” centenarian Iris Apfel and the constant year-on-year awfulness of ‘Ginge and Cringe’ and ‘Randy Andy’ in our overview sections, we’d more so appreciate your submissions of lesser known heroes and villains of 2022 especially.
We don’t doubt we’ll get missives about Matt Hancock, Boris Johnson, Anthea Turner, Dame Mary Berry, Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Richard Branson, Dame Patricia Routledge, Donald Trump, Richard Madeley and Owen Jones from both their fans and detractors, but community heroes and those who’ve brought a little joy to the world in 2022 would be even more welcomed.
Please send your nominations to [email protected] by 10am on Friday 30th December 2022. The completed rankings – with upto 25 in each category – will be published on Sunday 1st January 2023 and we look forward to your suggestions of those you have loved and loathed in equal measure in a tempestuous year marked by the cost-of-living crisis and the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Just got in so a quick list. Will email later. Heroes- All nhs workers, working class Brits, Villians-BJ, Brexit and the Tories for turning Britain into a 3rd world country. Hardest “working royal”- KM 90 engagements in 360 days, averging 2 days a week of work. The average nhs worker- 12hrs a day shifts, six days a week. One lives in 5 homes, while the other can’t afford to heat one home. It makes total sense!Just plain stupid awards- SM involved in a lawsuit and currently tweeting and retweeing crazy pregnancy conspiracy theories. All very similar to the Ellie Hall article: MM was never pregnant and there were 3 different Archies in the Netflix series and based upon “genetics”MM couldn’t produce Lily because she has blue eyes. I guess she was “hacked” again. PM’ s question to homeless man showed how out of touch he is. 😊 New Year!
Katie Price – vile in every respectfrom a seriel criminal, bankrupt, an animal neglector/killer, ex-husband/victim violator, scrounger and grifter extraordinaire, child abductor and generally hideous personage – this one is almost as vile as Putin. Check out her wikis on Tattle Life to see The Real Her
I would like to nominate a lady called Carla Brooks. Her name may not be familiar to most people, but I became aware of her through watching an episode of the crime show ‘The Genetic Detective”. At almost 80 years old, she became the victim of a horrific attack when a man broke into her home and sexually assaulted her.
As traumatic as that was, she somehow found the strength to become a campaigner and advocate for women who were placed in a similar position to her. She started a fundraiser which raised almost $40,000 – most of which she donated to organisations dedicated to ending the backlog of rape kit processing.
A remarkable woman – who sadly passed away in October this year.
Other nominations; Dame Olivia Newton-John and Dame Deborah James – who raised an enormous amount for cancer research and treatment before succumbing to various forms of the disease. Both of them would also qualify as “heroes of the year” in my book.
Villains: Liz Truss; hapless 50-day PM who cost the country dear with her crackpot budget. Michael Barrymore – a revolting specimen who is more interested in trying to revive his career via TikTok than answering questions as to what happened to Stuart Lubbock. Alex Belfield – a shameful supporter of Barrymore, jailed this year for stalking.
I was particularly sad to hear of the passing of Angela Lansbury, Darius Danesh, and (friend-of-a-friend), Ronan Vibert. They will be missed.
Good riddance: Peter Tobin (vile serial killer, suspected to be behind the disappearances of several more women than the three he was convicted of). He certainly won’t be missed.
Oh my. Ms Carla Brooks has a mighty reward in heaven now. Stories like hers are so heartbreaking. Personally, I recommend Mr Matthew Steeples for his honesty & fairness!
