17th century Buckinghamshire farmstead requiring complete renovation for sale for £5 million
A 17th century farmhouse just 28 miles from Central London has gone on sale for £5 million ($6.5 million, €5.9 million or درهم23.7 million) in spite of being “in need of updating” through agents The Frost Partnership.
Dean Farm at Jordans, near Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire was built on the site of a 12th century farmstead and includes not only a listed 4 reception room, 5 bedroom main house but also a 2 bedroom annexe and a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom cottage. Within the grounds are a 117-foot long listed tithe barn, a listed granary, a gardener’s studio and a double garage.
The semi-rural freehold property stands on a plot of 6.4 acres of gardens and paddocks and comes with a further 3.7 acres of leasehold land.
Are you being serious??????????? In Aussie dollars that would be nearly 9 million!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You could get something amazing for that and you feature this grubby bit of scrub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously!!!!!!!!!!! Knock it down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bulldozer required, send in wrecking balls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rod: You silly sausage. Are you for real? This is history. I know you don’t have much of that down under but really, stop embarrassing yourself. This is a beautiful building and it should be treasured and cherished for future generations.
It could be amazing. Put a pool in the barn and maybe add a cinema room, a billiards room, a seriously big library, etc. You could have a vast party room too and the cottages would be great for guests. A shame there isn’t more land but less than 30 miles to London – no wonder it’s 5 million quid.
Let’s hope that it does not fall into the hands of the vulgar parvenu class such as Mr Phillips with his common ideas of cinema rooms and ‘vast party room’s’.
It needs someone of taste to gently restore it to its origins.
Mr Phillips: it may be north of London, but it’s not North London.
Alastair: You forget a few details: Croquet lawn, tennis court, swimming pool, etc please.
Pretty but pretty expensive.
I know this place. Absolute dump that needs burning down to simply clean it up.
5 million…. I guess there is a fool somewhere!
It’s been a run down guest house for some time. Visitors have told me it’s pretty shabby
This has also been used for TV locations notably in the TV show UFO – episode ‘the sound of silence’
