“Unmolested” wood-clad Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country convertible to be sold at Bonhams’ Preserving the Automobile auction for just £5,800
In commenting on the 2014 film St. Vincent starring Bill Murray as Vincent MacKenna, Melissa McCarthy as Maggie Bronstein and Naomi Watts as Daka Paramova several critics suggested the real star was actually MacKenna’s Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country convertible. Featured in “so much of the movie it will forever be remembered as a character”, a similar car heads to auction at Bonhams’ Preserving the Automobile auction in October and is guided at just £5,800 to £9,600 ($9,000 to $15,000).
Also featured in Seinfeld, just 1,105 LeBaron Town & Country convertibles were produced between 1983 and 1986 and the 2.2-litre car on offer is described as being in “incredible original condition” and “unmolested”. It is clad in faux-wood grain and features wire wheels and a light interior “seemingly devoid of discolouration”.
The 1986 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country convertible will be offered without reserve by Bonhams on behalf of the Evergreen Collection on 5th October 2015 at auction at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia.
