200 acre Scottish estate for sale for the price of an 800 square foot flat in Knightsbridge
In London, £1 million will just about buy an 810 square foot one bedroom flat in Ovington Square, Knightsbridge. For the same price, a buyer could buy an 8 bedroomed Scottish mansion set in 194 acres at Duror in Argyll.
For sale since 2013 and originally priced at “offers over £1.25 million”, the Achara Estate has been used as a holiday home for the last twenty years. It includes a category B listed 5,113 square foot main house with 8 bedrooms, a converted coach house with 3 bedrooms and two 1 bedroom cottages.
Standing in just under 200 acres of gardens, woodland and grassland, the estate is 25 miles from Oban and 102 miles from Glasgow. It is set on the shores of Loch Linnhe and close to the scene of the infamous Appin murder of 1752 that inspired Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel Kidnapped.
The Achara Estate is for sale through Knight Frank’s Edinburgh office

I’d take the Knightsbridge flat any day. It will go up in value whilst this money pit will just cost more and more to maintain.
