A round up of the moves of the newsworthy
Live like Lake
Television host Ricki Lake paid David Arquette and Courtney Cox $5.6 million for 230 North Carmelina Avenue in Brentwood, West Los Angeles, California in 2002. She’s now selling the 5,226 square foot “Plantation style” property and seeks $8.75 million. Maybe someone will be able to chat Lake into a discount.
Sushi in SW3
Monello at 100 Draycott Avenue in Chelsea was short-lived. Though the pizzas it served were excellent, the restaurant lasted less than a year and like Kicca before it, it is now boarded up. For a long time before it, Beccofino, a scruffy yet dependable Italian, prospered but now it looks set to become a sushi restaurant named Bō Láng. It opens this autumn. Andy Murray, who is said to eat upto 50 pieces of sushi in one sitting, take note.
What a point
Geri Halliwell’s ex, Henry Beckwith, is selling his third and fouth floor apartment at 50 Onslow Gardens for £3.995 million through Savills. Complete with a bar and hot tub, this 3 bedroomed property is a perfect bachelor pad. A neon light artwork piece titled “What a point” (presumably by Tracey Emin) currently hangs in the sitting room.
A remarkable survivor
The 14th century The Manor at Fyfield in Oxfordshire is for sale for £6.25 million with Savills. The current home of the co-founder of Pendragon Capital, Julian Harvey Wood, which was absorbed in GLG Partners as part of an £8 million deal in 2009, is described as a “remarkable survival” in the agents’ brochure. Perhaps that description could also be applied to Mr Harvey Wood’s career also.
Versace on sale
It’s not often that you hear of 40% discounts on Versace but given that the South Beach, Florida mansion of the late Italian designer Gianni Versace has failed to sell, Casa Casuarina’s price has been slashed from $125 million to $75 million and it is now headed to auction. Marketed by the Fisher Auction Company on behalf of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the 23,400 square foot property includes 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. Mr Versace was murdered on the front steps in 1997.
