The brilliance of the Olympic closing ceremony
Last night, Great Britain excelled itself with a closing ceremony for the Olympics that was both bonkers and brilliant.
Boris Johnson danced to the Spice Girls and Lord Coe eulogised about the volunteers. The crowd cheered heartily and even watching the proceedings on television brought a tear to the eye. With 65 medals in the bag, this nation truly had something to celebrate but what was especially worthy of a cheer has been the way in which the country has embraced the “Citius, Altius, Fortius” motto.
Here, indeed, was a Games that was “Happy and glorious.” Well done to Lord Coe and all else involved in this wonderful event.
