President Kennedy’s granddaughter pays her respects at a British memorial to him
On Friday, Tatiana Schlossberg, accompanied by the American ambassador to Britain, Matthew Barzun, paid tribute to President Kennedy on the fiftieth anniversary of his assassination.
The 23-year old daughter of Tatiana Schlossberg and a Yale graduate, Tatiana Schlossberg commented:
“We have come here today to honor his memory- as this monument does so well- but today is a difficult day because it is a reminder of a moment of profound sadness for my family, for America and for the world”.
“For me, my grandfather lives in my imagination, in his words, and in the lessons he has left with us. Throughout my life, I have been able to connect with him through the study of history, both by studying his life and by studying the eras and patterns that fascinated him”.
“Of all the memorials to my grandfather, which pay tribute to his life and work all around the world, this one is very special to our family because it was during his time in England as a young man that my grandfather decided to study political leadership and pursue a life in public service”.
“As a lover of history- particularly British history- I know that my grandfather would be both proud and humbled to see that his work on behalf of peace and liberty for all people is remembered in the same place where the rule of law was made manifest nearly 800 years ago”.
Today’s politicians should indeed look to the past as they guide us towards the future. Tatiana Schlossberg pictured at the memorial to her grandfather had to be our Picture of the Week.

JFK and his hideous family hated this country. JFK’s father even tried to keep the US out of the war and certainly supported the Provos. As for his brother, Bobby….a thoroughly nasty piece of work. But, not untypical of the corrupt gangsterish approach to politics special to the US.
I couldn’t make head nor tail of the pretentious gibberish spoken by Miss Schlossberg.
The best thing he ever did was get shot. He was utterly useless and delivered absolutely nothing. And Peter’s comments above I wholeheartedly agree with.
