Michael Fabricant MP is wrong to seek a lifting of the ban on shock jock Michael Savage entering Britain
This week the “unconventional” Conservative MP Michael Fabricant suggested it is time to reverse the ban on the offensive American ‘shock jock’ Michael Savage entering Britain. He is utterly wrong.
In comments reported by the Mail Online, the “metrosexual member for Lichfield” stated:
“I disagree with Savage’s views, but in the light of events in Paris and the need to defend free speech, it is more ridiculous than ever to bar him from the UK”.
Though Fabricant has chosen to ignore Savage’s offensive comments – which number remarks such as: “When I see a woman in a burka, I see a Nazi” and [of Muslims]: “I said so kill 100 million of them, then there would be 900 million of them. I mean would you rather us die than them? I mean what is it gonna take for you people to wake up? Would you rather we disappear or we die? Or would you rather they disappear and they die? Because you’re gonna have to make that choice sooner rather than later” – he fails to accept that Britain is a country which has prospered as a tolerant nation and not one that celebrates hate.
Both Gordon Brown and David Cameron were right to ban the male equivalent of Katie Hopkins from Britain and though Savage calls it a “true nightmare of Kafka”, long may it remain.

The peaceful majorities are irrelevant when terror strikes. Tolerance within reason, Political correctness will not safeguard the general public against terrorism. Savage is rather over the top.
He is not just over the top, he advocates the killing of those he doesn’t like; he tells gay people to “get AIDS and die” and he screams obscenities at anyone who dares to question him. Michael Savage is a moron and frankly it would be best if he was banned from everywhere.
He’s a lookalike of the SW3 jailbird Thomas McLoughlin and his comments are equally repugnant. They should get a room.
He is evil personified.
The man is sick in the head. Off to the loony bin with him.
Savage is a Katie Hopkins, he makes his living making controversial statements that is aimed at deliberately causing anger and offence. He knows he is talking shit. He should be treated in that context. He is a comedian like Frankie Boyle and Jimmy Carr.
I am a firm supporter of free speech, even when it is utterly offensive. I suggest that the line in the sand here is that he is not merely espousing strong views on a myriad of subjects, but that he is inciting harm towards others; at that point, he has crossed the line in to realms of criminality, and, thus, I support his ban from the UK.
Well said Thomas. His advocacy of the killing of Muslims is precisely why the ban is correct. I have met him on at least ten occasions and even went on his show (a former employer of mine is amongst those who ridiculously supports his activities) and I must say that he is nothing but angry, bitter and vitriolic.
