Gina Miller creates a double act by pairing up with former Prime Minister Sir John Major to stop Boris Johnson proroguing Parliament
Yet again Gina Miller has pulled it off. Not only did she yesterday get the High Court to accept that her legal case needed to proceed, but today she slam dunked it and will now be adjoined by Sir John Major on the 5th September.
In a statement earlier this morning, Sir John remarked:
“I promised that, if the prime minister prorogued Parliament in order to prevent members from opposing Brexit plans, I would seek judicial review of his action.”
“In view of the imminence of the prorogation – and to avoid duplication of effort, and taking up the Court’s time through repetition – I intend to seek the court’s permission to intervene in the claim already initiated by Gina Miller, rather then to commence separate proceedings.”
“If granted permission to intervene, I intend to seek to assist the Court from the perspective of having served in government as a minister and prime minister.”
We salute our former Prime Minister for being as bold to take on one of his successors and we again urge readers to back Gina Miller’s crowdfunding efforts to take this most justified court case forward.

Wonderful news. Well done to both of them. I say this as a pensioner who made the mistake of voting leave and now regrets it.
Brilliant news.
Tell Johnny Boy to ROD OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a pillock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s hope that if John and Gina’s attempts to ignore the will of the British people fail, he won’t be as ungallant about her as he was about his former partner, Mrs Currie!
Neither of them ignore the will of the people in what was an advisory referendum and not legally binding. Gone in June May could have said “Thanks for the opinion. I will address the fears and try to negotiate from within the EU.” Nobody expected to vote for a chaotic no deal Brexit when it had been said it was a piece of cake to negotiate a good deal. The leavers did everything they could from downright lies to illegal funding. I am surprised Matthew doesn’t cover the insidious Trumpist Fossil Fuel lobby. The horrible US factory Farming lobby with its drug tainted food and slack standards- the latter are waiting to negoitiate a crushing trade deal using the UK position of abject weakness. Wake up to the Tufton Street Group of climate change deniers. (See https://www.desmog.co.uk/55-tufton-street) and the extreme right wing factions invoved. And would you believe it Boris’s cabinet is there along with Farage and UKIP. Boris is a climate change denier. “A prominent climate change sceptic’s company had donated £25,000 each to both Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt’s leadership campaigns, openDemocracy has discovered.” Need one say more?
Absolute hypocrisy. John Major prorogued Parliament himself in 1997 to intentionally delay the publication of an extremely embarrassing report investigating the cash for questions scandal involving his own Government. So for Miller to team up with an established hypocrite says much about what she herself is about. Hypocrisy.
