The youngest ever eventer to compete at the Olympics at the age of 18 and “the finest horseman China has ever produced”, Old Etonian Alex Hua Tian was born in London to a British mother and a Chinese father. Cheshire based, he told the BBC “I feel very Chinese here in the British countryside” and that “at the same time, when I’m in China, I feel very British” in August 2014. These photographs of this friend of Jilly Cooper by John Stoddart capture this “one in a billion rider” just perfectly.
Big trouble in little China……..
And what nice man he is too!!
What a wonderful young man. So talented. I read he started riding at 3.
Remember that you heard it on The Steeple Times first
Alex was guest speaker at the 2013 World Horse Welfare Conference at The Royal Geographical Society’s fantastic conference hall
He had the ‘ touch ‘ and amazing maturity, he will become an international ‘ name ‘ in my opinion
Being NQOCD …….I don’t know the sock colours; but I dont think he’s a cricketer
