A former sidekick of Lady Gaga, New York based bartender turned DJ and author Brendan Jay Sullivan wrote a memoir of his time with her in 2013 titled Rivington Was Ours: Lady Gaga, the Lower East Side, and the Prime of Our Lives. He recounts helping the star “build a paper cake, out of which she climbed to sing Happy Birthday like Marilyn Monroe” and in 2013 told Rolling Stone: “Being a bartender is like being a beat reporter. You know what’s going on, who’s coming and going, who’s broken up with whom. It’s like being in the press box”. Time Out New York once termed him: “The nicest guy in nightlife”.
