This pint-sized nonagenarian hailed from Barri, Italy and was married to Lindsay Masters, one of the founders of Haymarket Publishing. A larger-than-life character, Marisa Masters once won a sports car in a raffle at Harrods and when presented with it replied: “What is a Porsche?” She gave the vehicle back soon after. Her views on the royal family were unprintable but when Michael Jackson came on the stereo, she was often to be found dancing on the table. She will be hugely missed by many.
She’s always happy. I love her for that. What a lovely picture. Where was it taken?
So pleased to see Marisa here. I adore her & she deserves a place. Love the Steeple Times, great work xx
Glad you like the site and I can assure you the lovely Marisa is still thriving. M x
Marina: A style icon! Always a smile and bit of sunshine on a rainy day. Tells it like it is nothing more or less. Italian passion about everything: family, driving, eating, parties, art and design,
I think you mean Marisa rather than Marina but she is certainly entertaining.
I did not know she has gone. Always promising myself to visit her, but time passed by so quickly. It was my first visit in London in 1998 on my 3 months university holiday. She was looking for someone to make dresses for her so I applied and was accepted. She influenced my life enormously. She was a great character, not easy one though. She always knew who you were. I will always remember her driving her Smart car with Gigi on her lap. It was her who kept me in London and I am still here, finished London University and became British citizen. Thank you very much Marisa. You will stay in my heart forever.
