Once described as a “cynical, ignorant f**ker” by Stephen Fry, Milo Yiannopoulos is a gay, Roman Catholic, Greek writer who suggested that “once you get to the Mediterranean the ‘every hole’s a goal’ mentality kicks in” in an Breitbart article titled “I’ve worked it out: ISIS is a gay death cult” in March 2015. With over 50,000 followers across two Twitter accounts, @Caligula and @Nero, this “cross between a pit bull and Oscar Wilde” isn’t afraid to speak his mind and “collects enemies like carrier bags”. In 2009, Yiannopoulos was criticised for tweeting that he hoped the police “beat the shit out of [the] w***ers” at the G20 protests” just before a newspaper vendor named Ian Tomlinson was killed and in 2013 found himself described as “patronising” by the singer Will Young on Newsnight. He is a devotee of the pop singer Mariah Carey and organised a moonwalk flash mob tribute to Michael Jackson in London’s Liverpool Street station in 2009.
His role in GamerGate needs examination.
Agreed, preferably with a giant anal probe.
Don’t trust a word he says. I can tell you many things but all I shall add is: AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.
Not really getting the purpose of this writeup. Did he contribute to the site? Is this an editorial about him?
Also, as far as Margot’s comment about avoiding him, you may disagree with what he says, you may not trust what he says (Although every time I’ve brought an ethical concern in one of his articles to his attention he has fielded it with class, and if the issue has merit, corrected it) but just avoiding people with a different point of view from your own will lead to a personality stagnation.
Obviously, your choice who you do and don’t avoid. But it is worth considering that without diverse viewpoints, a person can become trapped in a sea of their own abstractions.
He was suggested of worthy of inclusion on our roll call of influence as an observer. He is one of over 700 entries and his varied past will certainly interest many I do believe. Mr Yiannopoulos has no affiliation with The Steeple Times and I have never met him myself.
So Mr. Samenfink, you have ‘interacted’ with Milo, after actually reading his upside-down thoughts. Do you have that kind of time to spare in your life? Because otherwise – maybe YOU are the one that’s trapped ?
What an odd observation. I rarely allow the opinions of others to infect my own well conceived ideas.
Next thing you will be telling me I should listen to the Kardashian’s to ‘avoid being trapped in a sea of my own abtractions’.
Never heard of him before. I enjoyed watching the debate with Will Young. Young Milo beat him hands down. He talks sense. Thanks for bringing him to my attention.
I wonder about anyone who can quote the Daily Mail Online as a reference. If you look at the documentation regarding the Austrian class action against Fakebook it does say that Twitter comes a poor second in terms of numbers with around 50,000 members. Is he followed by all members of Twitter, or by the same half of members at 25,000? Not that I place the membership of Fakenook as anything much more than that if you take away the Nigerians, Ghanaians, Senegalese, Turks, and Malaysians- all busy fundraising as Generals for the US Army.
What an awful choice. The man’s a f****ing wanker. He should be burnt at the stake.
He edits his own Wikipedia page. Says it all. Sad bastard.
He is a bad person. He is filled with hatred and bile and you should not support him. He has bad karma and it will catch up with him.
