This Irish writer, journalist and presenter describes herself as having “fought ageism at the BBC and won”. Miriam O’Reilly is best known as a BBC Countryfile presenter but successfully sued the Corporation after being dropped in 2009. She subsequently returned to front the Crimewatch Roadshow with Rav Wilding before attempting and failing to become a Labour Party candidate for first Nuneaton in 2013 and then Heywood and Middleton in 2014. Closely linked to Labour’s Harriet Harman, those that take O’Reilly on should be warned that she’ll likely take to Twitter to exact her revenge.
It seems quite a few old bags are using ageism as a pretext for being dumped. Maybe she was just no good and that’s why the BBC got rid of her.
You are quite right Peter Wayde. Miriam O’Reilly is a terrible presenter and plainly has the wrong views also. Who on earth would want to be a Labour candidate right now?
Miriam O’Reilly is a woman of principle who stood up for her rights, refused to be bought off and gagged. While she was at the BBC she won numerous awards and was considered good enough at her job until, as an Employment Tribunal ruled, she was victimised and discriminated against. Her stand has made a positive difference to the way older women are treated. So think about that the next time you write sniping articles and make childishly insulting, ignorant comments.
Thanks Mark, I have thought about it and still maintain she is well past her sell by date and far from being pretty…in fact, she is hideous!
And as she was once a Labour Party candidate her principles stink.
Mark, you may be in love with her, but don’t let emotion get you all excited!
What nonsense. Miriam O’Reilly is just a loud blabbermouth. She should be number one on this list. Matthew: Why isn’t she Media Mouthpiece No. 1?
