This modest Mancunian actress is best known for having starred in the 1970s series Man About the House. Twice married Paula Wilcox has appeared in everything from soap operas like Coronation Street and Emmerdale to Woody Allen’s Scoop yet considers herself a “reluctant star”. South London based, Wilcox’s favourite books number Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations and Mervyn Peake’s Titus Groan. Of her career, she has commented: “I think the secret of success is to keep going and do your best and in my case to diversify as much as possible. I’m not very good at doing the same thing for very long. I like the challenge of new things, so it is great to be getting older and still getting really interesting parts”.
Glad to see you featuring someone so lovely and decent. She handles fame exactly the right way. She should be ennobled but she probably wouldn’t want that.
