This “ebullient” American’s name is most apt. A former Barclays bank executive who likes to wear sunglasses come rain or shine, Ricci retired to a Kentish mansion at 49 and supposedly travels by private jet to Dublin every weekend as he “just love[s] Irish racing”. With 40 horses in training and a take home total of £44 million in 2010 alone, he needn’t and doesn’t do things by half and even once named a horse Fatcatinahat in honour of an article The Independent ran on him. Whilst Bob may have had the Diamond position during their days at the bank, it is Ricci who remains truly Rich.
He is a factitious looking character, a common appearance among executives in the banking industry. Perhaps he has a eye condition such as cataracts. He must have had a decrease in vision not to have foreseen the banking crisis. He was obviously not a casualty. Makes you think.
Where on earth does he get those ghastly, common “I am trying to be an English gent’ tweeds from…horribly vulgar man. What would the Quaker founders of Barc’s think about their cherished bank employing the likes of Mr Ricci
I know Rich from the racing circuit. He is a gentleman and has great knowledge of the turf. He likes his privacy so I’m not sure he’ll appreciate your feature. He is a man who prefers to remain under the radar.
Know him you may….gentleman….I doubt. His reputation in the City was certainly far from being gentlemanly and he…his boss did huge damage to a great English bank. Thank goodness spivs have been at last banished from Barcs. And if he values his privacy he might be advised not to dress like a Brooklyn mobster made good.
I agree with Pete, the way he dresses you would think he is a understudy for Frank Sinatra in Robin and the 7 Hoods.
I don’t think he is trying to be an ‘English gent’ at all Pete, he is wearing Irish tweed and is clearly passionate about Irish horse racing, as reinforced by Francis. Tweed itself obviously originates from Scotland, so I do not see how he is trying to be an English gent at all. Thanks for the input though Pete…
