Shrimpy’s: A ridiculous restaurant that refuses to take cash
Shrimpy’s on London’s Regent’s Canal has become the first cashless restaurant in the UK and whilst we have no objection to people using apps and cards to pay for their purchases, banning payment with real, solid money is just ridiculous.
The restaurant’s co-founder, Pablo Flack, told the Evening Standard’s Susannah Butter:
“Soon people will view cash like they look at a cheque book now — it’s as if someone’s just pulled a Betamax video out of their pocket”.
Flack is entitled to his view just as much as the next man but in our view, he is wrong. Cash, to us, will always be King.

Cash still remains the best method to take a bribe or cheat the tax man. I suggest that they watch some old Al Capone or Dillinger movies. Even Bonnie and Clyde stole in hard cash. Perhaps Netflix can help, or do they also demand payment by card? I think the politicians at least get it…….
I think their customers pay in gold sovereign’s.
Yes i agree especially like me who has cash coming out my ears. 🙂
Then again, what, with ebola flying around, maybe cash is not such a good idea, know what i mean harry?! 🙂
