Marco Pierre White is right to ban the Michelin Guide from his restaurant; he and others should take similar action against TripAdvisor
News that Marco Pierre White has told the Michelin Guide that he’ll refuse access to his latest restaurant, The English House in Singapore, doesn’t surprise.
Pierre White – one of the most brilliant living chefs – has had a long-running dispute with the culinary guide creators and handed back his three Michelin stars in 1999. Now, in comments to CAN Lifestyle, this true character announced: “They sell tyres and I sell food.”
Announcing also that “restaurateurs are only shopkeepers, that’s all we are. It’s no different from the supermarket down the road,” Pierre White has yet again set himself apart from the rest of his industry. Here, indeed, is no pussy footed Gino D’Acampo or annoyingly chirpy Mary Berry. Here, instead, is a man of steel and one not afraid to tell it how it is.
Marco Pierre White, now, should take a stance against another disgrace: the biased review site TripAdvisor. As we’ve said before, their users – the ‘Trippies’ – are a stain on humanity and it is a place used only like vicious creatures such as Baroness Meyer to wreck businesses. It’s time we all TrippedOut.

Marco ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
We all love our Marco!
You are right. I would never choose a restaurant because of what TripAdvisor had to say about it.
Frankly I don’t see what’s wrong with trip advisor. It is PEOPLE’s choice if they want to read/ consult it or not. I like Marco a lot. But there is a bit of “ ego” there. As with so many of other “ chefs “ As for me “ big”. Don’t know enough to comment
