The sheer arrogance of Vote Leave’s Gisela Stuart has yet again been illustrated in her claim that her organization “did their very best” to comply with the law

On Sunday morning on The Andrew Marr Show, The Right Honourable Gisela Stuart of the Vote Leave campaign refused to apologise for the wrongful actions of the organisation she co-chaired during the 2016 Brexit referendum campaign.

In claiming Vote Leve “did their very best” to operate within election spending limits, Stuart – a strange former Labour MP who also supported the Iraq War and voted for a ban on fox hunting also – showed one thing only and that is her sheer arrogance.

On Friday, Vote Leave dropped its appeal against a £61,000 fine for electoral offences committed during the campaign and elsewhere the £20,000 fine against the BeLeave founder Darren Grimes still stands.

Continuing in response to Marr’s questioning about the law breaking that went on, Stuart dimwittedly added: “The problem for us is that we destroyed all our data.” In response, on Twitter, Jay Rayner rightly pointed out that this should be “this should be huge news” whilst Alex Andreou mocked Stuart’s data destruction as being something “all innocent parties do.” They are both right: This shameful woman should be ousted from public life; the actions she did nothing to stop have stolen democracy from millions and she is frankly unfit to be put in control of even a bus ticket.
